Kor-Phil org marks Special Children’s Day

August 23,2016 - 10:13 AM

KOREANS and Cebuanos will once again gather together this month as the Korea-Philippines Educational and Cultural (Kopec) Exchange celebrates its second Special Children’s Day.

With the theme “Happy Together,” the activity aims to bring together special children with disabilities.

Kopec has its roots in Dr. Hoon Young Choi, who was inspired to serve special children.

In coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) 7 and DepEd Cebu Province Division, an exhibit showcasing various artworks and handicraft is ongoing at the Cebu Provincial Capitol until August 30.

The highlight of the celebration is the “Art Festival,” which started last year. All Special Education (SPED) centers, SPED schools, SPED classes, and Municipal Federations of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the province of Cebu and chartered cities are encouraged to join.

Special children, in-school and out-school participants will be given the chance to express themselves through art.

Awards and cash prizes await the winners of this activity which will be held at the Capitol Social Hall on September 2. /CIT-U MassComm Intern Cassandra Yu
