TWO motorcycle-riding men were arrested at 7:55 a.m. yesterday for allegedly bringing firearms and drug paraphernalia.

Cebu City traffic enforcer Perelyn Dosdos said she flagged down Jerry Gamboa at corner Osmeña Boulevard and Escario Street in Cebu City after seeing his backrider Glenn Losorata not wearing a helmet. When the two came to a stop, Dosdos noticed that their motorcycle didn’t have side mirrors and plate number.

Dosdos said Gamboa asked permission to go to a nearby La Fortuna bakery to buy something to eat since he was hungry. PO1 Ronnie Gerardino, a policeman assigned at the vicinity, arrived moments later and found a .38 revolver tucked in Losorata’s waist and several sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia in his backpack. He then headed to the nearby bakery to arrest Gamboa, who allegedly yielded a .45 pistol, a sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects from Barangay Talamban, Cebu City were detained at the Fuente police station. When interviewed by members of the media, the two denied accusations that they are robbers or members of a gun-for-hire syndicate.
