Gateway, Batch ’97 remain spotless

GATEWAY ‘07 and Batch ‘97 kept their perfect records to remain atop their respective divisions in the PLDT SME Nation – Alfredo Gothong 21ST SHAABAA Cup Basketball Tournament on Wednesday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

In Division C, Gateway used a searing run in the middle periods to take full control of the game and emerge victorious over the South Tiger Trucks and Heavy Equipment ‘05, 54–40.

Ahead 15–11 after the first, Gateway dominated for the next 20 minutes and outscored their opponents, 26–11, to establish a 41–22 lead heading to the fourth.

Aaron delos Reyes had 12 to lead the way for Gateway while Martin Uy and Brennon Gothong had 11 apiece to help boost their win-loss record to 5-0 (win-loss) while keeping South Tiger winless in six tries.

Radar Tires ‘04 though, kept within striking distance of the league leaders after they defeated Batch ‘14, 59–51.

Christopher Gothong scored 18 to pace the winners while Raynan Bacalan pitched in 10 to help Radar Tires score their third win in five matches and gain a tie for second place with the Prince Warehouse ‘06.

In Division B, Batch ‘97 took possession of the lead in the standings with a 53–37 shellacking of Batch ‘95.

Chad Go and Cecilio Gillamac presided over the onslaught with 12 and 10 points, respectively as Batch ‘97 improved to 5–0.

Choobi Bay Crab and Shrimp ’91 remained in hot pursuit of the leaders with a 45–39 win over Dynacast ‘01.

Veterans Chad Canares and Dennis Que imposed their will over their younger opponents and showed the way for Choobi Bay with 11 points each.
