CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said postponing the barangay elections is just like postponing democracy.
Osmeña said the postponement of barangay elections would not affect his party Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK), but rather create a level playing field.
He said postponing the elections would give big politicians more time to look for money to fund their candidates.
Association of Barangay Councils president Philip Zafra of Team Rama, however, said the postponement would be advantageous for their party especially that majority of the barangay captains belong to their team.
Comelec Regional Director Rafael Olaño said they continue their preparations despite the proposal filed by Sen. Joel Villanueva to postpone the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
He said only an enacted law can stop the elections. /USJ-R intern Dafne N. Wenceslao
