BAYANI Alvarez and Rhoda Opordo outlasted their respective opponents to rule the grueling 1st Cebu Southwest 210 Kilometers Ultramarathon that started at Santander town, southern Cebu and ended in Cebu City last Friday.

Alvarez clocked in 26 hours and 30 minutes, while Opordo timed 42:37:00 to be crowned champions in the male and female categories, respectively.

Brian Guillen, a policeman assigned in Lapu-Lapu City, finished second in the male category at 2:30:00. He was followed by Virgilio Undaloc, who logged 32:45:00.
Lorginson Gaso (39:35:00) of Dumaguete managed fourth, while Bohol’s Edwin Silagan came in fifth at 42:32:00.

Angelie Durano trailed Opordo. She was the last female runner to arrive before the cut-off time.

Durano reached the finish line a minute before the cut-off time (6:59 p.m. Sunday).

Due to the hot weather, organizers extended the cut-off time from 46 hours to 48./CORRESPONDENT RABBONI BORBON
