Three hurt, 17 houses damaged by tornado in Bogo

Three persons were injured while 17 houses were damaged by a tornado that hit Barangay Odlot in Bogo City in northern Cebu late Wednesday afternoon.

Odlot barangay chairman Emily Juanillo said strong winds turned a house made of light materials upside down while another was blown away. Two pumpboats were found hanging on tree trunks in the aftermath.

“Maayo na lang gani nga walay taw ang mga balay (We are fortunate that the two houses were unoccupied),” Juanillo said in a radio interview.

Pagasa Visayas director Oscar Tabada confirmed the presence of a tornado which hit the coastal barangay of Odlot in Bogo City located 101.7 kilometers north of Cebu City.

Tabada said the tornado in barangay Odlot developed on land and lasted for about 20 to 30 minutes before it finally dissipated.
