One of the suspects in the slaying last Monday of a traffic enforcer in Carcar City was killed in a clash with policemen in Barangay Valencia at around 5:30 a.m. today.

The suspect, identified by police as Bimboy Siducas, allegedly tried to throw a hand grenade to the operatives, prompting the latter to shot him, said Chief Insp. Jose Liddawa, the police chief of the Carcar Police Station.

“The operatives were forced to neutralize the suspect in order to defend themselves,” said Liddawa in his report submitted to the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

Siducas, an alleged gun-for-hire and drug personality in Carcar City, was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The police recovered from Siducas a hand grenade, a .45 caliber pistol, small plastic packs of shabu, and a motorcycle which the suspect allegedly used as getaway vehicle in killing traffic enforcer Maximo Bustamante last Monday.

Bustamante, 58, was driving his motorcycle on his way home when two persons on board a motorcycle drove by him. The motorcycle’s back passenger then pulled out a .45 pistol and fired at Bustamante several times. Bustamante was brought to the Carcar City Provincial Hospital but he did not make it alive.

Before he became a traffic enforcer, Bustamante was a member of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN) in Carcar City. The police said Bustamante reportedly provided information to authorities against people involved in criminal activities.
