Officials of the Southern Cebu towns of Alegria and Badian have agreed to the proposal of Governor Hilario Davide III for them to co-manage the lucrative canyoneering activity in the two towns.

Davide announced the agreement to Capitol reporters past noon today after he emerged from his closed-door meeting with officials of the two towns led by Mayors Carmencita Librando Lumain of Badian and Verna Magallon of Alegria. The meeting was held at the governor’s office starting at 10 a.m. today.

“Both parties agreed to have the canyoneering under the two local government units but should be done (through) an ordinance that would be separately enacted by the muncipal councils of the two LGUs,” Davide said.

The meeting was set after boundary dispute between the two towns surfaced over the canyonering activity on the river rapids that starts from the village of Compostela in the town of Alegria and ends in Kawasan Falls in Barangay Matutinao, Badian.
