Lapu-Lapu traffic group: No more vehicles carrying butane canisters
THE City Traffic Management System (CTMS) of Lapu-Lapu City has not spotted anymore vehicles carrying refilled butane canisters in the city’s streets.
Mario Napoli, assistant traffic head of CTMS, told Cebu Daily News they no longer spotted vehicles, mostly motorcycles, with refilled butane canisters this week.
He even noticed that retail stores, especially those in the market, no longer display refilled butane canisters. But Napoli said he received information that some retail stores are still selling it discreetly.
“Dili man mi makadakop anang mga tindahan pero duna na siguro’y information ana ang mga pulis (We cannot apprehend these stores, but maybe the police already have an information [that some retail stores are still selling it discreetly]),” said Napoli.
“Sa unang higayon nga amo silang makit-an among parahon ug hatagan og warning, kuhaon ilang pangalan ug plate number sa sakyanan. Pero sa ikaduhang higayon amo nang isyuhan og citation ug kompiskahon ang mga canisters (The first time we apprehend them, we will give them warning and get their names and the vehicle’s plate number. But for the second time, we will issue citation tickets and confiscate the canisters),” he added.
On the other hand, Lapu-Lapu City Acting Police Director Rommel Cabagnot said they already informed butane canister refillers and retail stores regarding the ban of LPG-refilled butane canisters in the city. He said if they are still caught selling and refilling butane canisters, they will apprehend them and confiscate their butane canisters.
