THE University of San Carlos (USC) tankers hauled 18 golds, 15 silvers and 5 bronze medals yesterday to grab a commanding lead in the 16th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. swimming competitions at the Cebu City Aquatics Center.

Antonne Villahermosa, Pia Cardinal and Razel Cabajar won three golds each to lead USC’s charge.

But their most remarkable performer was Ruliben Deligero who won two gold medals capped by a record-breaking swim in the Men 18 & Over 100 LC Meter Breaststroke.

Deligero, 18, shattered the 16-year old record of Charles Gulfan of 1:14:77 with a new time of 1:14.31.

The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters are a distant second with three golds, two silvers and seven bronze.

Meanwhile, in the high school division, the UC Junior Webmasters are leading the way with eight golds, 10 silvers and two bronzes while USC (5-2-7) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo De Cebu (3-4-5) are in second and third, respectively.

Some events were still being contested as of press time yesterday.
