Pagasa: Cloudy skies in Cebu this weekend
CEBU will experience cloudy skies with a high chance of thunderstorms this weekend.
Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa officer-in-charge Al Quiblat said that the weather in Cebu today until tomorrow will be partly cloudy to cloudy with thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon until the evening.
“However, on Monday and Tuesday the province is expected to have high to moderate rain because of habagat (southeast monsoon) intensified by (the upcoming) typhoon,” Quiblat said.
Tropical storm Chaba (locally known as Igme) will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today, according to Quiblat.
He said Igme will be the ninth typhoon to enter the PAR following typhoon Helen.
Igme is located 1,800 kilometers east of Luzon. He said the typhoon will have little effect in the Visayas and Mindanao.
“Igme has no big effect in the Philippines because it is moving towards Japan,” Quiblat said.
There is also a low pressure area (LPA) but it’s still 300 kilometers away from Apari in Cagayan Valley.
Both the LPA and typhoon are still far from the country, said Quiblat.
“Layo ang LPA ug ang bagyo. Ang mga dakbayan ug lalawigan sa Sugbo makasinati og madag-umon nga kalangitan ug adunay pag-ulan sa hapon ug gabii,” Quiblat said.
Quiblat said that Igme is expected to exit PAR on Monday. However on Tuesday another typhoon will be entering PAR.
“Kung sa Saturday (today) hapon ug gabii ang pagulan-ulan. Sa Lunes ug Martes buntag palang kusog na ang ulan,” Quiblat said.
Quiblat said the typhoon will be named Julian once it enters PAR.
