DANAO City leads the top five local governments with active disaster management offices, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management office (PDRRMO) said.

Julius Regner of the PDRRMO said these local governments have disaster management offices that were staffed and acquired equipment.

Also in the top five were the towns of Liloan and Dumanjug and the cities of Bogo and Carcar.

“We based their ranking on the number, efficiency and effectivity of responders,” Regner said.

He said the other LGUs should not take these offices for granted.

Regner said about 80 to 90 percent of Cebu have their own disaster risk and reduction management offices.

The LGUs that don’t have them are the towns of Santander, Oslob, Boljoon, Ginatilan, Ronda, Madridejos, Pilar, Tabogon and Daanbantayan.
