Some settlers in the Osmeña Shrine in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City lost their houses on Tuesday morning.

The members of City Hall’s Prevention Restoration Order Beautification Enhancement (PROBE) team implemented the order issued by Mayor Tomas Osmeña to clear the area of illegal settlers.

There are around 300 structures in the area.

Councilor Pastor Alcover Jr. arrived at the scene at around 11 a.m. to pacify the residents who sought help from councilors.

He assured the settlers of his support and told PROBE members headed by Abel Diloy that the demolition was illegal since there’s no clear proof that the property is owned by the city.

The PROBE team pulled out at noon for lunch. But Diloy said they will continue the demolition this afternoon and for the rest of the week.
