DANAO City will be hosting next year’s Xterra Off-road Triathlon, Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), the race’s organizer, announced today.

Princess Galura, general manager of SEI, met with Cebu’s Fifth District Representative Ramon “Red” Durano VI earlier today along with Cebu Provincial Administrator Mark Tolentino and Cebu Provincial Sports Commission vice chairman Miguel Magpale where they discussed the city’s hosting of the race.

The race is returning to Cebu for the fist time since Liloan hosted the event in 2014.

Liloan had actually hosted the event for four years.

Albay hosted the event in 2015 and 2016. The province actually signed a three-year contract with SEI but decided to discontinue hosting the race for the third straight time.

The race is scheduled on April 14 next year. Registration will start on October 26.

Durano VI and Tolentino are excited about the city’s hosting. SDanao has urged the SEI to discover other towns and cities in Cebu that can be a potential venue for a triathlon race, according to Galura.

The race features a 1.5-kilometer swim, 35k off-road bike course and 10k trail run.

Danao is also bidding to host an international mountain bike competition and the Palarong Pambansa next year.
