Tom O. is new Sinulog Foundation chairman

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has been designated as the new chairman of the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI).

Osmena made this announcement after a meeting with members of the board of trustees of the SFI at City Hall on Friday morning.

The SFI is the organizer of the annual Sinulog festival in Cebu City.

Osmeña replaced former mayor Michael Rama who had been the foundation’s chairman since 2010.

“(We discussed) the changing of the guards. I’m now basically the overall chairman. In his (Rama’s) mind, he’s still the mayor. They (board) made an election,” Osmena told reporters yesterday.

Osmena also said that he also had initial discussions with the SFI on his plans for the downsize the upcoming Sinulog 2017 celebration.
