USPF, USC eye finals seats in Cesafi boys’ volleyball

THE UNIVERSITY of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers and the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors eye spots in the finals when they take on separate foes in the Cesafi boys’ volleyball semifinals today at the USC Main gym.

Both teams scorched hot at the start of the semifinals over the weekend with USPF winning over the University of Cebu (UC), 25-20, 25-23, and USC handing the defending champions University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) its first loss of the season, 25-22, 26-24.

Both USC and USPF have 1-0 (win-loss) cards in the single round-robin semis so victories today will book them seats in the championship round.

The Baby Panthers, who were off to a sizzling start this year winning all five of their assignments, will lock horns with the previously unbeaten Baby Jaguars, who are in an unfamiliar position, fighting for their tournament lives.

The Baby Warriors, on the other hand, hope to get another crack at the title they lost a year ago as they go up against UC.

In girls action, USC will look to end the elimination round on a strong note as it tangles with the winless Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons.
