Four brand new Foton C1 ambulance vans were turned over today by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III at the PCSO – Visayas headquarter in Pier 4, S. Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.

Davide, in his speech, thanked PCSO chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz for the donation and added that the ambulances served as an ‘early Christmas gift’ for the provincial government.

Corpuz, on the other hand, used the occasion to talk about President Rodrigo Duterte’s plans on the war against illegal gambling for the year 2017.

He said President Duterte wants to promote legal numbers game such as small-town lotteries (SLT) as means for the government to generate revenue.

“And 30 per cent of the revenue will go to charity, 15 percent will go to local government units, law enforcement agencies and other government officials. These ambulances (came from the money generated by PCSO),” stated Corpuz.

The ambulances will be given to district hospitals in the cities of Talisay and Carcar and two other still unnamed areas.
