Lapu-Lapu trisikad drivers’ group leader shot, wounded
Unidentified armed men shot the leader of a group of trisikad drivers in Lapu-Lapu City on Mactan Island Cebu on Monday afternoon.
Ruel Rosal, 38, a resident of Sitio Pakpakan Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu, was in critical condition at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City after sustaining gunshot wounds in the body.
Rosal is president of the association of trisikad drivers in Deca Homes in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu.
Initial investigation by the police homicide section showed that the victim was driving his trisikad when two men on board a motorcycle drove alongside him. The backrider then repeatedly fired at Rosal.
PO2 Marven Saraum of the police homicide section said personal grudge was being looked into as a motive because Rosal had an altercation with an unidentified man last Sunday.
He added Rosal also had no derogatory records with the police and was not suspected to be involved in illegal drugs.
