‘LIBINGAN’ ETC.
The Supreme Court’s decision allowing the burial of the late president Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) drew mixed reactions from Filipinos on social networking sites.
After the viral photo that renamed the LNMB into the “Libingan ng mga Bayani at Isang Magnanakaw” on Google Maps (the new “name” has since been removed), other photos of the cemetery also started to appear on social media, labeling the LNMB as the “Libingan ng mga Bayani at iba pa,” or “Libingan ng mga Bayani and friends,” among others.
EFFECT
An older man was intently watching the coverage of the US presidential elections on television when he was told by a young man, “Ngano affected man mo anang US elections, US citizens mo (Why would you be affected by the outcome of the US elections, are you US citizens)?”
Irritated by the question, the man lectured the youth, saying that Philippines will also be affected by the outcome of the US elections.
The young man acquiesced and said: “Hinoon, kon modaog o mapildi ang Golden State Warriors, affected man pud ta bisan dili ta taga-Golden State,” he said, laughing.
(Well, if the Golden State Warriors wins or loses, we are also affected even if we not from the Golden State.)
COMMON SENSE
The death of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. has made pundits of practically everyone.
“Even an uneducated person would know that Mayor Espinosa was intentionally killed. How could he resist arrest when he was already under arrest?” a man on the street opined.
(FYI: The police were there to search the mayor’s cell for drugs, not to arrest him)
