Landmasters’ Rogado, Tan lead special award winners in SHAABAA
FORMER PBA D-League standout Moncrief Rogado and athletic forward Daryle Tan were feted with special honors during the awards night of the PLDT SME Nation-Alfredo Gothong 21st SHAABAA Cup Basketball Tournament on Wednesday at the Basic Bar and Restaurant.
Rogado, the former University of Cebu standout who has had several stints for different squads in the PBA’s amateur league, was named as the season MVP of Division A after averaging 18.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and two steals per game, which buoyed the Cebu Landmasters to the top seed in the elimination round.
Tan was named as the Finals MVP after he led the Landmasters in the finals, with norms of 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals in a two-game sweep of Gaisano Capital.
Tan and Rogado were joined on Division A’s Mythical Five by Harley Davidson’s Fletcher Galvez, who also captured the Defensive Player of the Year trophy, and Gaisano’s Arc Gabrielle Araw-Araw and Mavii Suarez.
Araw-Araw was also awarded with the Sportsmanship Award while Suarez nabbed Rookie of the Year honors.
In Division B, Junie Alejandro of White Gold Club was named season MVP while Magdaleno Sy of Batch ‘97 got the Finals MVP plum.
Aside from Alejandro, also making it to the Mythical Five were AutoLAB’s Jeremy Huang and Kent Ong, Dynacast’s JP Cabrera and Ian Ong of Batch ‘95.
Carlo Villarica of Dynacast was feted for his efforts on the defensive end with the Defensive Player of the Year plum while Edwin Lim of Choobi Bay Crab and Shrimp got the Sportsmanship award.
