THE “Chairs of Joy”, the first-ever running event organized by Cebuana Olympian Mary Joy Tabal, fires off today at the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City.

At least 300 runners are expected to join in the race, which serves as a fund-raising activity.

Proceeds of the race will be used for the construction of school chairs of the Guba Elementary School.

The 27-year-old Tabal, a SEA Games women’s marathon silver medalist and the first Filipino marathoner to compete in the Olympics, is a native of Barangay Guba, a mountain barangay in Cebu City.
