THREE former standouts of the Cesafi are set to receive special awards when the UAAP holds its season ending awarding ceremonies tomorrow at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Former Southwestern University standout Ben Mbala, now of the La Salle Green Archers, will be named MVP after a dominant first season that saw him average 20.6 points, 16 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.

The Cameroonian sensation will also be named to the prestigious Mythical Five squad where he will be joined there by former Cesafi juniors MVP and ex-University of the Visayas Baby Lancer Paul Desiderio and former Cebu Eastern College sentinel Raymar Jose.

Desiderio, now the star of the University of the Philippines, averaged 16.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and a steal in Season 79, a campaign which saw the moribund Fighting Maroons nearly make the Final Four.

Jose on the other hand, averaged a double-double of 10.4 points and 11.2 rebounds in his final season for the Far Eastern University Tamaraws.

Completing the Mythical Five are Mbala’s teammate Jeron Teng and Thirdy Ravena of the Ateneo Blue Eagles.

The Mythical Five award winners were based solely on statistical points garnered during the two-round eliminations.
