TWO one-way streets in downtown Cebu City will accommodate the 469 vendors who will sell their products in the annual Night Market scheduled next week.

Genevieve Alcoseba, chief of Cebu City Hall’s Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP), said the vendors will be allowed to set up their stalls at Borromeo Street corner Leon Kilat to Sanciangko and Legaspi Street corner Jakosalem Street to Manalili.

“This is 90 percent final because this is the recommendation of the City Traffic Operations Management (Citom), and so far, these are the identified available areas,” she said.

Alcoseba said there won’t be any closure of the streets to avoid disrupting traffic since only half of the road will be used. She said they will meet with the vendors to finalize the rental fee.

“The fee covers the cleaners, the marshals who will guard the operation and also the electricity. How much will it be? Everything should be properly liquidated,” Alcoseba said.

The rental fee in the previous year was P5,000 to P15,000 per month.

Alcoseba said vendors will pay the fee to staffers assigned by the City Treasurer’s Office, and they will be issued receipts to confirm their payment.

Alcoseba said they are considering a common design for the stalls to make them look beautiful and organized.
