IRRESPONSIBILITY

The number of fires that broke out in Cebu City in the past week caused no small alarm to residents, some of whom asked if this was normal.

“I thought most fires happened during summer?” she asked, to which her friend replied that “fires happen when we’re not careful. It happens when we’re irresponsible.”

She cited as an example the case of one fire caused by an overcharged cell phone that was neglected.

TRAFFIC RELIEF

Last Monday’s fire along the Banilad-Talamban corridor caused heavy traffic congestion for more than two hours.

A woman, who was in a taxi at that time, found it difficult not to answer the call of nature.

“Lucky for you, men, you can take a leak anywhere you like,” she told her driver.

When the congestion eased, she asked her taxi to stop by a fast-food chain so she could relieve herself.

EMOTIONAL INTERVIEW

A reporter noticed that his subject was getting teary-eyed, so he stopped taking notes.

“I’m sorry, sir. I get really emotional when I recount my life experiences,” the interviewee said.

The reporter told her it was okay. But then he started crying as well.

Both of them spent a solid five minutes crying before they resumed the interview.
