BASKETBALL players who are looking to take the next step of their careers will get their chance on December 22 and 23 as the San Sebastian College-Recoletos will be staging tryouts for both their collegiate and high school squads.

The tryouts will be held at the Sacred Heart Gym along D. Jakosalem St. and will start at 10 a.m. The Golden Stags’ head coach, Egay Macaraya, will personally supervise the tryouts.

Incidentally, Macaraya is a Cebuano who once played for the University of San Jose-Recoletos. However, he made a name for himself in the coaching ranks after leading the Centro Escolar University to five championships in the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities before moving on to coach San Sebastian earlier this year.

The Stags are looking to get back to the NCAA’s elite after last winning the title back in 2010 behind a squad powered by now Alaska Aces forward Calvin Abueva.
