‘I Love Run: Born From The Heart’ footrace set
The newly formed Central Visayas Adoptive Parents Association (CVAPA) will be spearheading a footrace dubbed “I Love Run: Born From The Heart” slated on February 5 at the Axis Courtyard, Vibo Place on N. Escario Street, Cebu City.
In partnership with Vibo Place and Cebu Grand Hotel, CVAPA is hoping that the footrace will help raise public awareness about its mission.
Composing of 40-50 members, CVAPA, which was formed last year, is an organization registered and licensed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office-7. Its main purpose is to help strengthen the relationship of the adoptive parents and their adoptive child.
“CVAPA was formed to help adoptive parents and guide them the right way of parenting their adoptive child through counseling courtesy of the members,” said CVAPA president Kaking Sy in a press conference yesterday at Cebu Grand Hotel.
Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC) president and Kinetic Running head Kenneth Casquejo, who also has an adopted child, is helping run the race which features 10-kilometer, 5k, 3k and another 3k race for kids.
Also present during the press briefing were Cebu Grand Hotel’s Ian Martin Borromeo and Vibo Place’s Andre Suarez.
“This event will be one of the highlights of the National Adoption Consciousness Week which CVAPA is also celebrating. The proceeds of the event will be given to chosen foster home or orphanage here in Cebu,” added Sy.
Casquejo said the race is expected to draw at least 800 runners.
He added cash prizes amounting P14,000 and gift certificates will be given to the top finishers in the male and female division of the 10k and 5k distances.
Medals will be given to all the finishers in the 10k and 5k distances.
Registration fee is pegged at P500 for the 10k, P400 for the 5k, P300 for the 3k and P100 for the kiddie run.
