VOLLEYBALL players from Cebu as well as from the different parts of the region who are dreaming of representing the country in international competitions will get their chance to do so as the Larong Volleyball Sa Pilipinas Inc. stages an open tryout for the national team on February 18 and 19 at a yet-to-be-announced venue.

The tryout is for both the men and women’s teams and will be presided over by none other than the national team’s newly-appointed head coach, Francis Vicente. The tryouts will start at 1:30 p.m. and will last until 4:30 in the afternoon.

A three-day tryout recently concluded on Tuesday in Manila with most of the country’s very best volleyball players showing up to try their luck.

Jovelyn Gonzaga, Rachel Anne Daquis, Mika Reyes, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Denden Lazaro, Aby Maraño, Jen Reyes and Cebuana Cherry Rondina were just some of the standouts that participated at the three-hour sessions.

The LVPI is preparing a squad for two prestigious tournaments: the AVC Asian Women’s Seniors Championship set from August 9 to 17 in Manila and the Southeast Asian Games set August 19 to 31 in Kuala Lumpur.

They are also looking to field a squad in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
