CEBUANA racquet-wielder Elizabeth Abarquez is on the verge of winning yet another championship as she advanced to the semifinal round of the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Championships 18-under girls category yesterday in Cagayan de Oro City.

Abarquez, who took home two titles in the Cebu leg last month, dominated the weary John Jem Gupit, 6-2, 6-1.

In the semis, Abarquez will play the winner in the Nicole Gatchalian-Merkisslyn Ubay-ubay match, which was being played as of press time.

The 15-year-old Abarquez had fresher legs against Gupit after she earned a bye in the tournament’s opening round.

Gupit, on the other hand, had to overcome Joanne Gornes first, 6-2, 6-2, before taking on Abarquez.
