THE BEST young basketball players in the region will get a shot at potentially making it to the country’s national youth teams as the Elite 60 Development Camp commences this Saturday at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu campus in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
The Elite 60 serves as a process to identify future players for the National Youth (Under-18 and Cadet) teams. This is consistent with SBP and MVP Sports Foundation’s mission of “helping both grassroots development and elite programs of eight national sports associations.”
The top 10 talents from Cebu will earn slots to the Elite 60 Developmental Camp on May 18 to 21. There, the top 60 prospects from the various regional selection camps will be housed for an intensive basketball-training program which includes rigorous drills, coaches’ lectures and intense five-on-five games.
Expected to be in Cebu is selection committee head Ato Badolato and NBTC founder Eric Altamirano. They will be assisted by a battery of local coaches led by four-time Cesafi juniors champion Rommel Rasmo.
