Cuizon eyes golden treble

CEBUANO tennis prodigy Chad Connor Cuizon hopes to keep his winning streak going as he guns for a treble today in the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) regional tennis tournament at the Mactan Island Tennis Club.

In yesterday’s action, the nine-year-old Lapu-Lapu City resident, teamed up with Asturias Cebu’s Douglas Maravillas in beating Scofeld Tabura and Axel McKenzie, 8-1 in the 10-unisex boys doubles final.

Cuizon hopes to continue his hot run as he squares up with his doubles partner Maravillas in the 10-unisex singles finals and JP Silmaro in the championship match of the 12-under boys division.

Meanwhile, Consolacion Cebu’s Jude Carlo Balundo looks to avenge the loss of his sibling as he goes up against Vhon Tudtud in the 18-under boys title match.

Earlier, Tudtud routed Jude Carlo’s sibling Zudie Karl, 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinals.

On the other hand, Naga City\s Lyrah Mae Repollo split her semifinal assignments as she advanced into the 14-under girls championship after an easy, 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Donabelle Roma before losing to Ashely McKenzie, 6-4, 6-1 in the 16-under last 4.

The 13-year old Repollo is set to take on Nicole Villar today for the 14-under girls diadem.
