Foreign runners rule dyAB Kapamilya Run

FOREIGN runners ruled the dyAB 1512 Kapamilya Run half Marathon yesterday at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.
Canadian April Lynn topped the female division of the 21-kilometer race by clocking one hour, 42 minutes and 54 seconds while Kenyan Eric Chipsiror ruled the men’s side with a time of 1:09.44.

Lynn, an elite runner who has won numerous titles abroad, beat local runner Lovely Andrin to the finish. Andrin placed second with a time of 1:49.00 while Jona dela Torre finished third, clocking 1:59.54.

Second placer in the men’s side was Joseph Arnel Emia (1:17.15) followed by the returning Kenyan long distance runner Simon Losiaboi.

Losiaboi used to dominate Cebu’s foot races before leaving in 2010. The last title he won in Cebu was the 21k of the Great Lapu-Lapu Run in Mactan.

Meanwhile, All Women’s Ultra Marathon (AWUM) reigning champion Lizane Abella recorded her fifth victory in a local foot race after grabbing the top spot in the 12k race.

She finished the race in 50 minutes and 42 seconds.

Cherry Andrin placed second with a time of 59:36 while Rose Marie Tumamak landed at third, clocking 1:00.24.

Joseph Mururi joined his fellow Kenyans on the winners’ circle as he lorded the 12k men’s division in 40:16.

Prince Joey Lee (40:35) and Kenyan Douglas Mwiti (47:09) were second and third placers, respectively.

Winners of the 6k race were James Mebei and Karen Andrea Manayon while Charisse Encarnacion and Rain Del Corro topped the 3k category.
