THE Davao Aguilas FC may have ceded their role as underdogs against Global Cebu FC in their rematch tonight in the ongoing Philippines Football League (PFL) at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

But the visitors vow to upset the host team.

Head coach Gary Philips said that their backs for sure are against the wall but the Australian tactician is also very confident they can beat the second best team in the tournament.

“We give everything in every game. We went 1-1 against Global in our first game, we could have made it two goals but we got caught off guard in the counter attacks,” said Philips referring to their first encounter last June 28 at the Davao del Norte Stadium in Tagum City where they lost to Global Cebu, 1-2.

Philips along with his player, Fil-Aussie Jordan Blair Jarvis graced the pre-match presser yesterday at the Golden Prince Hotel along with Global Cebu’s head coach Marjo Allado and team captain Misagh Bahadoran.

The Aguilas are sixth in the standings with four points on zero wins, four draws and five losses while Global Cebu FC is at second place with 20 points coming from six wins, two draws and two defeats.

Jarvis said that tonight’s match is special because his family will be watching. Jarvis’s mother is from Camotes Island and he said he is very excited to showcase his wares.

“I played a lot of times here and I am excited to play in front of my family,” said Jarvis who will represent the country in the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) this August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. “Taking up this game is also my preparation for Sea Games since I missed our training in Japan.”
