Farmer found dead in Compostela cornfield
A 58-year old farmer was found dead with gunshot wounds riddled all over his remains in a cornfield in Compostela town, northern Cebu Friday morning.
Eleuterio Dapat, Sr., reportedly went out of his house in Sitio Tabok, Barangay Tag-ube on Tuesday evening after he spotted two suspicios looking persons in his farm, SPO1 Dino Caputol of the Compostela police said.
Also found near the farmer’s remains were one improvised shotgun, some bullets and Dapat’s belt bag containing ammunition.
Caputol said initial investigation showed Dapat may have accidentally shot himself after he fell to the ground.
A paraffin test will be conducted to determine if Dapat’s death was accidental or not.
