THE Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu Alumni Association launched the Boy Scout-inspired book entitled, “12 Truths My Scoutmaster Told Me” which contains biographies of notable men in Cebu who were once boy scouts and the story of their scoutmaster.

The 12 truths referred in the book’s title is about the 12 international scout laws which describes a good scout as trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent which could serve as life lessons for anyone regardless of whether they are a scout or not.
The authors of the book are former scoutmaster Apolinario Leyson and former scout and current District Representative Hon. Scott Davies Lanete, M.D. with fellow scouts Franco Soberano, Regan Rex King, Jesi Howard Lanete, Jehrahmeel Chen, Rowel Shih, Jennoh Tequillo, Jonathan Loreche, Darwin Alvarez, Neal Co, Ryan Rasines and Michael Abello who also contributed their stories.

Back in the days, the 12 former scouts of the book feared their scoutmaster who was better known as “Sir Pol”. Sir Pol was also the main prefect of discipline in school and chief of police. He taught his scouts about leadership, proper conduct and survival skills which produced good character in the boys. His teachings also influenced them greatly in the practice or field they are in at present.

The book has 10 chapters and is published by Manila-based publisher, Think Publishing Hub, Inc. It is sold for P200 at SHS-Ateneo de Cebu’s Office of the Alumni Community and will soon be available in major bookstores nationwide.
