By: John Carlo A. Villaruel August 29,2017 - 09:40 PM

THE 17TH Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) volleyball tournament is set to welcome the season with a bang as bitter rivals University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Lady Jaguars and Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Lady Cobras cross paths in the main game on Sept. 2 at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) gym.

Game time between the Lady Cobras and the Lady Jaguars is set at 3 p.m.

SWU and USJ-R, who have met in the women’s finals in the past two seasons, will be entering the new season almost intact with the Lady Cobras losing only Necca Rose dela Llana and Shiela Bongo, who have already graduated. USJ-R only lost Irene Sasil, who finished her degree last March.

The brand new season is also set to welcome a new squad in the girls’ division as the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) will make its league-debut against the reigning champions Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles in the first game.

Also in the girls’ division, the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors will be going up against the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters in the second game of the day.

In men’s play, the defending champions USJ-R Spiking Jaguars hope to start their title-retention bid on a strong note as they take on USC at 1 p.m.
