Magis Eagles punish USJ-R in Cesafi football
THE SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles vented their ire on the hapless University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), pulling off a 12-0 rout in a secondary division game in the ongoing Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) football tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.
The defending champions opened their campaign last Sept. 17 with a humiliating 0-7 loss to last year’s runners-up Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC). Ateneo de Cebu made sure to make up for that loss and it did with a splash.
Leo Maquiling and Ray Barro combined for seven goals to lead the winning squad. Maquiling scored four goals while Barro chipped in three.
Kyle Go, Joseph Lumapas, John Francis Zambrano, Samuel Sistoso and Kian Partosa each scored one goal to complete the rout.
USJ-R suffered its second loss in the tournament.
In the other secondary division match, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) edged University of San Carlos-Basic Education (USC-BED), 1-0, for its second straight win.
