SHE is not alone in her journey to the Miss Universe 2017 title.
The Philippines’ Rachel Peters got the support of Filipino celebrities with strong Twitter following, as online voting for Miss Universe 2017 opened yesterday.
The online voting can help candidates earn a spot in the semifinals during the coronation night on November 27 in Las Vegas Nevada, USA.
There are options for the online voting. One is through Twitter by tweeting or retweeting #MissUniverse and the contestant’s specific hashtag (country). Netizens can also vote (a maximum of 10 times a day) via vote.missuniverse.com.
Among those who expressed support is Dubsmash Queen Maine Mendoza who sought the help of AlDub Nation (fans of Mendoza and her love team partner Alden Richards) yesterday on Twitter.
“I believe in the power of Aldub Nation! Let’s continue to support our candidate for Miss Universe 2017 Ms. Rachel Peters by using the hashtag #MissUniverse #Philippines Go Rachel,” tweeted Mendoza, who has 4.5 million Twitter followers.
As of 9 p.m. last night, the post had more than 28,000 retweets and more than 31,000 likes.
Kapamilya star Anne Curtis Smith, who has 9.9 million Twitter followers, also joined netizens yesterday in tweeting the hashtags.
“Go get it!!!! Slaaaaaaaaaaaaay! We got you @rachelpetersx. Had to repeat kasi no emojis apparently and not to use capital letters? Haha. Kagulo! Basta I typed everything correctly and used L for Philippines! O yan! #MissUniverse #Philippines,” Smith said.
Her original tweet had more than 23,000 retweets and more than 27,000 likes. “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda did not also miss asking his 10 million followers on Twitter yesterday to vote for Peters.

Vice Ganda even tweeted a joke to his followers to gain more retweets and tweets for Peters, “Or kahit anong itweet nyo basta use #MissUniverse #Philippines. Ge na wag ng KJ kung ayaw nyong isumpa ko ang mga love life nyo!!! Dalii!” Other celebrities who tweeted the hashtag were Gretchen Ho, Bianca Gonzales, and Chienna Filomeno.
