Cebuano Desiderio to return for final UAAP season
THE POSSIBLE impact that 6-foot-8 Nigerian powerhouse Bright Akhuetie might have on the University of Philippines Fighting Maroons’ future may have given Cebuano wingman Paul Desiderio enough reason to return for his final season in the UAAP.
But more than anything, Desiderio believes, it’s the unfinished business of bringing the Maroons back to glory that made him decide to finish out his collegiate career.
“I realized that I haven’t really given back to the school and to the entire community,” said Desiderio in an early morning chat.
The Fighting Maroons fell just outside of the Final Four this season with a 6-8 (win-loss) record.
“I want to finish what we started here and that is to continue the winning tradition and hopefully, return back to the Final Four,” said the pride of Liloan in Cebu, who averaged 16.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in Season 80.
