THE FINAL leg of the 2017 Drag Wars will finally push through and will be held January 13 and 14 at the Bogo City Hall road in northern Cebu.

The original schedule of the third and last leg of the series dubbed Mayor Carlo Jose Martinez Cup was supposed to be held on December 16 and 17 at the same venue. But it was canceled due to bad weather brought about by Tropical Storm Urduja.

In a post in the Drag Wars Facebook page, organizer Ron Sanchez said they got the approval from the City of Bogo yesterday for the staging of the final leg next weekend.

Fellow organizer Michael Francis Calo Mercado said at stake in the final leg is the coveted Driver of the Year title and the Elite Drivers for 2017.

The 2016 Driver of the Year was Vergel Vicencio of AMR Racing of Bacolod.

According to Mercado, among the top contenders for this year’s Driver of the Year is Jesus Tanpinco of Bacolod Motor Sports since he won the quick 8 open crown in the last leg. But he also believes it’ll be an open race for the crown since other noted teams such as ACR, DubCity, AMO, Group B, and Classic Autoworx will also be pitting their best race cars in the upcoming leg.

The first leg of the 2017 Drag Wars series was held at the South Road Properties in February 2017 while the second leg was held in Bogo City last August through the efforts of Mayor Martinez.

Drag Wars 2017 is sponsored by Comforser, KJO Prints and Advertising Solutions, LiquiMoly, Air Spencer, Twin Alpha Auto Solutions and Radar Tires.
