Cebu’s Roque tops PCC Online chess

NATIONAL Master (NM) Merben Roque of Cebu ruled the 15th edition of FNA Fundador Binahon Chess Cup dubbed as PCC Online Chess Challenge last Friday at the Pinoy Chess Club Online Facebook site.

The Cebuano bet collected 6.0 points to win the single-elimination tournament, knock-out tournament.

Roque earned P1,500 for his effort in the event organized by Pinoy Chess Club Online Facilitator, Arbiter FNA Noel Morales.

The former Rizal Technological University (RTU) Mandaluyong standout Roque beat University of Sto. Tomas bet Normel Benigno de Jesus in the final round to add the 15th FNA Fundador Binahon Chess Cup to his growing list of titles.

In other top board results, Patrick Ismael Credo of Bicol edged Vince Angelo Medina of Cavite.

De Jesus and Credo ended with similar 5.0 points, but De Jesus took runner-up honors by virture of a higher-tie break output.
