Running with a twist

A TWIST to running will be introduced via the Vertical Run 2018 on March 17 happening inside the Tower 1 building of Cebu’s tallest condominium, Horizons 101 Cebu, located in General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.

The event is spearheaded by Horizons 101 Cebu in partnership with Super Metro Hypermarket and Metro Supermarket.

Instead of running on the road, the event will have participants running indoor and racing to the top of the building.

The event is targeting 350 participants. Categories are Full 55 Challenge, the Relay By Pair and the Fun Climb 25.

A hundred slots will be available for the Full 55 Challenge, wherein runners will get to run up 55 floors. The Relay By Pair will have 50 slots while 200 slots will be open for the Fun Climb 25.

A medal will be given to all finishers while more than P120,000 in cash prizes will be given away to both male and female winners.

“This kind of event (vertical run) is already happening globally but not yet in Cebu,” Horizons Cebu Project Development Head Eric Gregor Tan said.

Rona Lacanlale, Horizons’ project development officer, assured that safety measures are undertaken with the help of race director Joel Baring. Medics will be assigned on some building floors while marshals will be stationed in every floor.

Registration fee for the Full 55 Challenge is P850, P700 for the Fun 25 and P1,800 for the Relay. Interested runners can register at Metro Colon, Metro Mandaue, Horizons and 101 Showroom up until March 8.
