Will Rhea and Julius make it to ‘PGT’ grand finals?

A PROUD mother is asking Cebuanos to support her daughter who will be competing in the 4th live-semifinals week of ABS-CBN’s talent show competition “Pilipinas Got Talent” (PGT) Season 6 this weekend.

Cristina Marquez, 59, a resident of barangay San Isidro, Talisay City, is campaigning for her daughter, Rhea Marquez, 22, who along with her partner Julius Obero received a Golden Buzzer when she auditioned during the PGT episode aired last January 21.

The duo wowed the judges—Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, Freddie M. Garcia and Robin Padilla—as well as the judges with their soulful dance
performance, made more special by the fact that Obero is wheelchair-bound.

It was Locsin who pressed the Golden Buzzer for the Julius and Rhea, which automatically made them advance to the semi-finals.

“Napaka-graceful nyung dalawa at maraming-maraming salamat na mapanood namin kayo ng live. Rhea para kang suot mo, yung movement mo napaka-graceful, napaka-suave, kasing lambot ng tela mo ‘yung katawan mo at bibigyan talaga kita ng plus points kasi hindi nag-o-overpower yung steps mo kay Julius at si Julius ay hindi nag-overpower rin, sobrang alam mong professional dancers talaga kayo na pinaghirapan talaga. Thank you, napakaganda ng ipinakita nyo sa akin,” the actress said.

Locsin added that they are an inspiration to the Filipinos, especially to other people with disability.

Marquez said that since grade school, Rhea has been trained in ballroom dancing by her uncle, Bong Marquez.

Julius and Rhea have won various dance competitions all over the country and even abroad Last March, they bagged three gold medals for the Freestyle and Combo Latin categories at a dance sport competition held in The Netherlands.

Rhea is a Philippine national athlete, who receives support from the government.

“I’m just proud of my daughter and I want everybody to know how good she is in what she does,” Marquez said.

Rhea’s father, Roque who used to be a member of a dance group, described his daughter as God’s blessing to their family.

He said he is glad that Rhea, the seventh of eight siblings, has inherited his talent for dancing.

“She even promised to build a townhouse for us,” the father said, adding that Rhea has been helping them in their
financial needs.

Tonight, Julius and Rhea will compete with other PGT semi-finalists for a chance to join the grand finals.

After their performance, the show will announce the mechanics on how viewers can vote for their favorite contestants through text and online voting.
