Only a few candidates filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) before the Commission on Election (Comelec). offices in Cebu for the first two days of filing.

About 2,840 candidates in Cebu have filed their COCs.

Comelec Provincial Election Supervisors Lawyer Lionel Castillano said at least ten offices in the province did not receive any COC on Sunday.

Castillano believed that some candidates were not informed that Comelec offices are open on Sundays.

In the Mandaue City Comelec Office, only 27 COCs were filed for barangay candidates, and 16 COCs for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) candidates.

The Mandaue COMELEC urges aspiring candidates to file their COCs before the deadline.

Meanwhile, two barangays in Tuburan town were recommended to be included in the election watch list due to previous election-related incidents.

Senior Supt. Edgar Alan Okubo, Cebu Provincial Police Director said that the recommendation is still subject to review.

On the other hand, 10 persons were arrested in Central Visayas at checkpoints during the implementation of the election gun ban on Saturday, April 14.
