Netizens expressed mixed reactions after President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Alegria town will be earning a whopping P82 million a month as a revenue share from the commercial operations of the oil and gas field by China International Mining Petroleum Ltd. Co. (CIMP) during his visit in Cebu last Saturday (May 19).
Bill Z. Bobb wrote, “Now is the best time to be a politician in Alegria! Imagine all the money you can make.”
For Reel Fred Babatid Ledesma, “Hopefully the benefits will not go to corruption and that it will truly enrich the municipality and its town’s folks.”
“Alegria oil deposit is still in the exploratory stage. Its actual reserves haven’t still justified in terms of quantity and quality,” noted Juan Pualas.
Alegria is a fourth-class municipality located in southern Cebu.
President Duterte led the ceremonial commencement of oil and gas production of the Alegria Oil Field Polyard-3 (P3) wellsite in Barangay of Montpeller of the town.
