Filipino brand hotel chain targets 2018 third quarter opening of Cebu property

A hotel with a brand that is envisioned to proudly wave the Philippine flag to the rest of the world will soon open in Cebu.
Andrea Mastellone,

Seda senior group general manager, was referring to the Seda Ayala Center Cebu, which had been set to open on the third quarter of 2018.

This is the ninth property of the growing portfolio of hotels owned, developed and managed by a Filipino brand, Seda.

Aside from that, Mastellone also said that Seda Ayala Center Cebu is also the brand’s largest property in the Visayas with 301 guest rooms and easy access to Ayala Center Cebu, which offers myriad lifestyle, retail and dining options, according to Andrea Mastellone, Seda senior group general manager.

Refurbished

Mastellone said the first Seda hotel in Cebu located within Cebu Business Park is being refurbished to align with Seda’s “timeless look consisting of simple, contemporary lines matched with earth tones.”

Seda is the Filipino word for “silk.”

“Warm contemporary surrounding in strategic location matched with an exceptional customer experience have propelled the Seda brand in the last five years. We will make our mark in Cebu drawing from these successful brand values,” he told visiting journalists in a recent interview held at the Seda BGC in Taguig City.

Mastellone said the guest rooms are currently undergoing a “dramatic makeover” offering a new layout in soothing earth colors with modern conveniences.

Drawing from its location in a busy business hub in Cebu City, Seda Ayala Center Cebu’s function and meeting rooms are expected to be highly popular among the social and business hubs.

Mastellone said these rooms will be updated to a brighter and lighter look and will be supplemented by lighting fixtures ad modern finishes.

Major lobby change

Visitors of the former brand that Seda Ayala Center Cebu used to carry will also see a major change in the lobby as it will be expanded and will cover the area of the former lounge.

The design reflects the open space layout common to other Seda hotels where the reception area flows seamlessly in to the e-lounge and main dining facility.

Interior design consultant Conrad Onglao said the high ceiling in the lobby and the volume and flow of spaces are retained as they work well with the overall design of the property.

The Cebu hotel will feature art pieces by industrialist-photographer Jaime Zobel de Ayala and sculptress Ann Pamintuan.

Filipino DNA

Mastellone envisions Seda to be the brand that will proudly wave the Philippine flag to the rest of the world.

“Seda is proud of its Filipino DNA and highlights this in its art pieces, furniture and more importantly, its service culture,” he said.

“To ensure memorable guest experiences, we carefully select associates who are empathetic, caring and hospitable. They undergo consistent training and development so they strive to understand our guests’ needs and outdo their expectations,” added Mastellone.

In Visayas and Mindanao, the hotel portfolio consists of Seda Capitol Central in Bacolod, Seda Centrio in Cagayan De Oro, Seda Abreeza in Davao and Seda Atria in Iloilo. Seda Central Block in Cebu is scheduled to open in 2019.

In Luzon, the hotel list includes Seda Nuvali in Laguna, Seda Lio in Palawan (El Nido), Seda Vertis North in Quezon City and Seda BGC in Taguig City.

Seda BGC Tower 2 in Taguig City and Seda Bay Area in Parañaque City are slated to open in 2019 while Seda Arca South in Taguig is set to open in 2020.
