ATOS JIU JITSU put up a dominating performance in the Dumau Asia Pacific Jiu Jitsu Championships 2018 No-Gi held over the weekend at the SM Seaside City Cebu.
The team secured the top spot in the No-Gi event with gold medal contributions coming from Atos-Cebu. It won a total of nine gold medals, 11 silver medals, and five bronzes.
Leading the list of gold medalists from the team are Atos-Cebu coach Leo Gaerlan, Mechelle Zapanta and Sandino Cinco. All three defeated teammates for the gold medal.
Gaerlan won over John Albert Uy in the championship match of the Male Purple Adult Light division, Zapanta defeated Adrienne Barba in the Female White Adult Light Feather division championship match, while Cinco defeated Lemuel Maglinte in the Male Blue Master Light Feather division gold medal bout.
Other Atos athletes who won gold medals are Michael Jay Caballero (Male White Adult Feather), Razer Samson (Male White Adult Light, and Open Weight), Vincent Limpot (Male White Adult Medium Heavy), Nicolo Andre Palacios (Male Blue Adult Middle), Engie Piloto (Male White Master Middle) Paul Juarez (Male Purple Master Medium Heavy and Open Weight), and Rodrigo Caporal (Male Black Master Super Heavy).
Over Limit Jiu Jitsu Association placed second in the overall medal tally in the No-Gi competition with eight gold medals, one silver medal, and 6 bronze medals. Deftac Ribeiro settled for third place with a 5-7-6 (gold-silver-bronze) haul.
