Thousands of voters flocked to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices in Cebu province with Monday’s resumption of the voter’s registration for next year’s elections.

Comelec Provincial Supervisor Lionel Marco Castillano said the first day turnout was good and they expect more to come especially as the deadline draws this September.

“Applicants must come personally because we need to take a picture of them as part of the biometric system,” he said.

Aside from new registration, Comelec also accepts voter’s reactivation, transfer with reactivation, correction of their entry and reinstatement of records in the list of voters.

Requirements needed for registration include; Valid ID card, birth certificate for those who needed to correct their records and a marriage contract for those who wished to change their marital status.

Castillano said election offices in all cities and towns are open from Monday to Saturday, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

He said the deadline of the voter’s registration will be on Sept. 29, with no extension, as they will finalize the voters list on October.
