AT LEAST seven government employees who are assigned in Danao City in northern Cebu and Dalaguete town in the south tested positive for illegal drug use during a series of mandatory testing conducted by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO).

CPADAO Chief Carmen Remedios Durano – Meca said that one Job Order (JO) employee of the Cebu provincial government who is assigned at the provincial hospital in Danao City was among those who showed traces of drug use in a surprise drug testing conducted on June 18.

A total of 145 hospital personnel were made to undergo the testing, Meca said.

Meca said that the six others — three JOs, two casuals workers and a regular employee — came from Dalaguete town.

The six were among the 378 government employees and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel who underwent drug testing on July 4.

She said that drug testing results will be subjected to confirmatory testing before they will refer the cases of the seven employees to their respective local chief executives for the imposition of appropriate sanctions.

This early, Meca said, there is a possibility that the drug traces found in the urine sample of the regular employee from Dalaguete town may have come from the medication that he is taking.

“Naa man siyay gi take na tambal kay gikan siya gi atake (He is under medication following a recent (heart attack),” she said.
