The Cebu City Market Authority (CCMA) has served the closure order to at least five stalls at the Carbon and Ramos Public Market today (July 9) due to unpaid rental charges.
Last June 22, copies of the closure order were sent to the stall owners: Eric Gok-ong, Danny Rible, Mario Flores, Eryza Marie Gok-ong, and Miraluna Booc, Atty. Winifredo Orcullo, Jr., the City Markets administrator, said.
According to Orcullo the stalls have construed unpaid rents since 2012.
Flores left a balance of P123,244.43 in August 2017 while Eric Gok-ong left a balance of P202, 362.35.
Danny Rible, who shared a stall with Gok-ong also has an outstanding balance of P123,211.43.
Eryza, Gok-ong’s sister owed P152,720.87 since April 2017.
Miraluna Booc who owned a stall at the Ramos Public market owed a balance of P157,905. 43.
Flores and Booc followed the closure notice and the stalls were already empty by the time CCMA arrived at the area.
However, Eric Gok-ong’s stall #21 and #22 were caught by surprise by the apparent closure.
“Paeta lagi. Ambot asa mi ani padung,” remarked Lolita Rible, 57, a vendor on stall #22.
