JOSHUA Garcia is proud of his on-screen partner Julia Barretto.

At a press conference with the Cebu Entertainment press last week, Garcia praised Barretto for her many achievements—particularly her new house.

“Kaya nga nagta-trabaho para magkaroon ka. Nakita ko naman gaano kahirap yun at saka hindi siya humihingi sa magulang niya,” Garcia said.

The 20-year-old actor, defending Barretto from bashers, said that the actress spends her own money on her purchases

“Yung lahat kita niya. Yun naman proud na proud ako sa ‘yo,” Garcia told Barretto.

For her part, the Kapamilya star said she was able to build a house because of hard work.

“Ang pinakamaling perception of the job that it is so easy. People forget that our job does not just tire us physically but also mentally and emotionally… it affects us, di ba?” Barretto said.

The “I Love You, Hater” star admitted that she feels offended when people belittle their job.

“Kasi hindi po madaling maging isang artista. I’m blessed because I love my job. I love acting. I love what I do. So maybe that is the reason why I keep going. I don’t stop no matter how painful it is, how painful it gets,” she added.

Still, Barretto said young people should not be pressured into having their own house.

“Wala naman nagpre-pressure na makapag-patayo ka ng bahay at 21. In your own time. Kanya-kanyang time yan. Hindi dahil may bahay na ako at 21 kailangan lahat ng tao may bahay na.

Iba-iba ang oras ng Diyos para sa atin,” she said.

Barretto started her career when she was nine-years old.

She already finished high school and wants to pursue college studies. Barretto plans to take up Psychology here in the country, or Film if she decides to go abroad.

If she’s not an actress, Barretto would set up a business, run a preschool or day care center.

As for Garcia, he said that he’s still saving more money and has no plans to buy his own house this year.

“Ako siguro, five years pa. Tagal pa, eh. Bago pa lang kasi ako. Four years pa lang ako sa showbiz,” the 20-year old actor said.

According to him, so far the most expensive thing he has bought for himself is a computer.

Garcia, who wants to finish high school, has passed the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

The 20-year-old actor was in third year high school when he joined the reality TV show “Pinoy Big Brother” in 2014.
